Why We Should Support Iran Against the US and Israel
The Middle East is a mess. Right now, tensions between the US, Israel, and Iran are skyrocketing. And as someone on the Left, I wanted to talk about some facts.
Now, whatever one’s critique of Iran’s internal politics, the core issue for the global Left is clear: Iran is a sovereign nation resisting Western imperialism. Opposition to imperialism does not require endorsing a state’s domestic policies; it is about defending the absolute right of a nation to its own sovereignty.
So, what should we do? The answer is clear: We must firmly stand against the US and Israel.
1. The US Doesn’t Care About “Human Rights”
The biggest lie we hear on the news is that the US and Israel want to “bring democracy” to Iran.
We have seen this movie before, and it always ends in disaster. Look at Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan. The US claimed they were saving those countries. Instead, they left behind destroyed cities, ruined economies, and endless chaos.
When a superpower invades or bombs a country, they don’t bring freedom. They just want a government that listens to Washington and opens its doors to Western big business.
2. Sanctions Hurt the Poor, Not the Dictators
Right now, the West is punishing Iran with brutal economic sanctions. Politicians say this is to punish the Iranian government. But who actually suffers?
“Rich politicians and generals never miss a meal. It’s the working-class people who can’t buy medicine, can’t find food, and see their savings disappear.”
Sanctions are just a slower, quieter form of warfare. They crush the daily lives of normal people, making it impossible for them to build a strong, independent movement inside their own country.
3. Foreign Threats Make the Dictators Stronger
Here is a big irony: When the US and Israel threaten Iran, they actually help the Iranian government.
When a country is under attack from the outside, the people naturally get defensive. The Iranian government uses this. Every time the US makes a threat, the government tells its citizens: “Look, we are under attack! Anyone who protests against us is a spy for America.”
If we want the Iranian people to fight for their own freedom, we need the US and Israel to get out of the way. External pressure gives the government a perfect excuse to crush local protests.
4. Israel is the Base of Imperialism in the Region
We cannot separate Iran from Palestine. Israel is not just acting on its own; it operates as the main military base for Western interests in the Middle East.
Their goal is simple: eliminate any country or group that stands in the way of Western control. Standing against Israeli aggression on Iran is directly connected to standing with the liberation of Palestine. It’s all part of the same fight against colonialism.
Standing against the US and Israel doesn’t mean we love the Iranian government. We don’t. We remember the Iranian socialists, feminists, and workers who are suffering under the government right now.
But we know one thing for sure: True liberation never comes from a US-Israel fighter jet.
The future of Iran belongs to the Iranian people, not to the military strategies of Washington or Tel Aviv. Iran is being punished by the West because it refuses to be a vassal of the US or Israel. So, if you are a supporter of US or Israeli actions, you are either complicit in imperialism or brainwashed. You are the real terrorist. Iranians will not surrender and will liberate themselves despite your interventions. The US and Israel are war machines of the world. They cannot survive without spreading war. That’s why they must face heavy sanctions and be isolated by the rest of the world.
