Tech needs to slow down - or we do

This recent AI madness is insane. It feels like every hour, there’s a new LLM, an AI model, a fork of AI, an AI tool, or an AI-supported website. The same applies to web development as well—there are tons of frameworks, libraries, tools, and other things I can’t even remember by heart. Every day, there’s something new.

How the hell are we, as humans, supposed to keep up with this pace? To be honest, I was really excited about these innovations at first, but now I’m just tired of seeing them everywhere on the internet, every single day. And what frustrates me even more are the people who say things like, “You need to speed up and learn these tools, or you’ll be left behind.” Oh, come on! Our brains are not designed for this kind of speed. It’s exhausting and discouraging.

I’ve been trying to self-teach coding, but to be honest, the overwhelming amount of things to learn has left me feeling discouraged. Why does it have to be so complex? Why can’t we just build and demand simple systems and products?

My dream was to be a web developer who creates simple, elegant, and fast products, but I’m starting to lose hope. First of all, I can’t keep up with the endless stream of new technologies. Secondly, simple and fast products are not in high demand, making it an already niche area.

So, as someone who already has a full-time job, I have to work my ass off to achieve what I want. And in this fast-moving tech world, that is verrrrryyyy difficult. I guess breaking into the tech industry will remain a distant dream, and I’ll be stuck with jobs I don’t enjoy. But maybe, just maybe, there’s still a way to make it work—if I can figure out how to navigate this madness and my life.

Will we slow down at some point? Or are we heading toward a collective burnout?
